It is that time of year once again. A time loosely defined by the interim between Thanksgiving and Christmas. A day unspecified and often uncelebrated. Even when it is celebrated, we may not even know it has happened until much later. We all think of something that may have occurred sometime long ago, that thing we all believe, you know? And it's very special, and so we celebrate.
We decorate. Who can forget the "spherical decoration," or the "tree object?" What about when your father/mother/relative, gathered your whole (group of like-minded individuals) and sang the Generic Holiday song? The memories are not priceless... not even expensive, but you will certainly have to think about where you go out to dinner for the next week or so.
So have a generic holiday. Remember things. And stuff. And other things. And be pleased about them.

I remember that one year when someone said or did something and it made me experience some kind of sensation or perhaps even an emotion.
The man had complimented me with 108.2 Proof. I am on record as disliking most proofs. So it came to rest in the backseat.
The way home, south on the highway, took me toward a familiar exit and I thought to change lanes, to move right. The stoop and the proof.
Holiday traffic and such and I missed the exit and was considering turning around before it occurred to me that the proof will lay dormant for awhile longer.
There are other ways of getting noticed in Japan. Try peeing on a small child. I imagine this would be a great conversation starter and would require in depth dialogue.
I remember last seasons generic gifts. I remember the desire to emote hyperbolicaly. But I failed at all of the above. No children were around.
